Fixed Assets - Legacy Transfers issue

We did a legacy transfer (AS91).  One of the assets was entered with incorrect current year posted depreciation.  This was not discovered until after the current month depreciation was run which caused the current year posted dep. field in the "Takeover Values" screen of AS92 to be non-editable.

Meanwhile, the start-up ledger values were entered correctly (OAMK).  This makes the sub-ledger out of balance with the general ledger accum. depreciation account for that class.

The accountant insists that the curr. year posted dep. field in AS92 - Takeover values be editable.  That would take care of things quickly.

However, it's not editable.  Therefore ...

I proposed that we re-enter the start-up G/L amounts in OAMK so that they balance to the sub-ledger.  This would make both incorrect temporarily, but they would be in balance.  Then we could do a manual ord. dep (ABMA) or unplanned (ABAA) to get both the asset and the G/L corrected as well as in balance.

She says that the ledger cannot be incorrect, even for a few minutes.  Not sure why.  I'm just IT.  Nor can we retire it and re-enter it without impacting the P&L.

So, if she is correct, there appears to be no possible way now to get the asset sub-ledger back in sync with the G/L and be correct.

There's got to be a way, though.  Otherwise, it's a huge weakness in SAP.  Anyone know what that way is?

Thanks,

Dave Niederbrach
