#error being shown for If Statement

Hi,

I am very new to Business objects. While working on an already existing report in web intelligence I came across this if statement.

=If( ???? = ("N"); "Nest";

If( ???? =("R"); "Ring"))  (modified example)

I am not sure what this statment means. and its currently showing an error for this too in the report.

Could somebody help me with this.
