Hello Nikhil,

Unfortunately, we do not have access to the documentation of Greenplum 4.2 and client/middleware connectivity.

I can see you are asking how to configure the ODBC and have been made aware of an ongoing support incident for this issue as well as this thread.

From a support perspective, SAP support will be glad to help you if you're encountering issues while using XI 3.1, but configuration of the middleware lies within your scope of responsibility:

BI products support a lot of middleware/drivers and we have limited ability to configure each of them on the various operating systems available (it amounts to several hundred possible configurations), let alone provide full guidelines on complete implementation of each driver that is supported with the product.

This being said, I've done a bit of digging and found that 2 documentations in this case will be of interest to you:

GreenPlum Database 4.2 Connectivity Tools for Unix

GreenPlum Database 4.2 Client Tools for Unix.

I was able to check basic information on these  which really leads me to believe this is spot on for your issue but I cannot access the main website of the vendor so I could not go further into it.

As explained by Dayanand Rao, XI 3.1 SP6 supports PostgreSQL 9 ODBC driver, but from the glimpse of docs I got (first page on scribd of one of the 4.2 docs, as well as the 4.3 one available on the web), this is exactly what you would get from Greenplum website

My advice at that point is the following:

(Edit) 1- Get the 4.2 client tools/ODBC drivers directly from Greenplum (if you cannot find them, contact them)

2- Following their documentation, install the PgSQL ODBC driver you are interested in with the PostegreSQL interface (they both come as part of the suite apparently)

3- Confirm the connectivity is functional from your Solaris box to the DB by using psql

4- When done, configure the same driver, this time on Windows by creating a DSN with the exact same name, and again, test the connectivity.

5- Get the necessary libs of your middleware set in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH (Solaris and Linux) for the BusinessObjects user (in the .bash_profile or .profile)

6- Reload your SSH session, and restart BOE XI 3.1 (so the WebIntelligence Report Server takes this into account)

7- Upload your universe (if not already done) and start testing !

I hope this helps, and let us know how it goes.

Best regards

Romain
