So super bad news our DBA quit today! and now I am tasked to help solve this issue:
We received an RCA ticket for an event where the login page was accessible but none of our customers could login that has been isolated the database becoming unresponsive. To resolve the team restarted the database server. Based on this information alone, what potential causes are there for the database becoming unresponsive: A) at an application layer, B) at a database layer, C) at a storage layer?
What do you think should be some of the actions to permanently mitigate those causes?
